l. SHEA has published on-line the new CDC Guidelines for PPEs for EBOV HCW. In summary, the training for donning and doffing PPEs must be rigorous; no skin may be exposed; and donning and doffing must be supervised. CDC recommends full body suits and either N95 respirators or PAPRs. See: https://col128.mail.live.com/?tid=cmHjEVGyNZ5BGJ_AAeC8szVg2&fid=flinbox for the complete set of CDC Guidelines for PPEs.
2. Reuters reports air travelers from Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia must enter the U.S. through the 5 airports which have enhanced screening of passengers from West Africa.
3. NY Times reports that thousands of HCW filled the hanger-like Jacob Javits Conference Center in NYC today to learn how to protect themselves from EBOV. Federal and state health officials showed how to and how not to don and doff PPEs. The training session was kept moderate in tone, and the speakers generated some laughs from the audience, which is always a good sign. The training session was organized by SEIV, a HCW union. The mantra of the session was: ‘Practice, Practice, Practice’.
